Become a Volunteer

Athboy Credit Union wish to recruit volunteers to serve on various committees over the coming years.

An individual can develop both personally and professionally by volunteering as well as benefiting from social interaction with other volunteers.

The benefits of credit union volunteering include:

  • Gain skills and experience in a senior role of a regulated financial service provider
  • Education and training
  • Personal development
  • Meet new people from the community
  • Work on developmental and business projects
  • Give something back to the community

In order to bring purpose and value to their role and contribution, volunteers are given sufficient guidance, direction, training and support. The development of volunteers, and their progression to senior positions on the board, allows volunteers to use their skills, be challenged and developed into the future.

Volunteering in the credit union has its benefits and can be a very positive item for job prospects. However it can be a demanding role, and volunteers especially those who become directors need to be aware of the time commitment they may have to make. Potential directors are also required to have an interview to see if they are eligible to take a seat on the board and to ensure there is no conflict of interest.

Application forms are available in the Credit Union or on our website:
